The 2010 Program

The Convention Program is only available online. Please feel free to save it to your computer so that it is available to you at any time. The Mighty Peace Teachers' Convention believes that teachers should be conscience about the effects of waste on the environment and that we need to be role models in our attempts to preserve the environment. By implementing the online program the funds saved are being redirected to the program, allowing us to provide you with the highest quality sessions and speakers. As teachers and leaders, we have taken the initial steps to ensure a greener future for our students. We hope you enjoy Convention 2010, The Spirit of Learning!

Hosting a Session

For each session we like to have a teacher who is attending the session to introduce the speaker and pass out evaluation forms to the participants at the beginning of the session and to collect the completed evaluation forms and return them to the Convention office. This is what is referred to as hosting a session. In previous years, we asked teachers to sign up to a host a session prior to the session and then to come to the Convention office for an envelope containing the speaker information and evaluation forms.
We will continue to ask teachers to sign up to host a session prior to the session, but instead of coming to the Convention office for the envelope, we will give the envelope to the speaker to give to the hosting teacher. In the event that there is no host, the speaker will ask someone in the session to hand out and collect the evaluation forms. The envelope of completed evaluation forms is to be returned to the Convention office, at which point the host will receive a $10 gift certificate to IGA - host 6 sessions and you've made $60!

Once you have decided what sessions you are going to attend simply e-mail 2010mptca@gmail.com to sign up to host a session. In the e-mail include the session number(s) and your name. Be sure to check the Program spreadsheet to see what sessions already have hosts. You can sign up to host via e-mail before noon on March 24, 2010. After that, come by the convention desk and check to see which sessions still need hosts and just sign up on the board.

Tips for reducing program printing:

1. Use the spreadsheet to filter sessions that are applicable to you and then only print those sessions! See the spreadsheet for details.

2. Copy and paste only those sessions that you are interested in into a word processing document. Print off the page(s) you have created so that what is printed is considerably condensed (rather than printing off an entire copy of the program). There is a
MS Word template on the web site you can use.

3. Print one or two copies for the staffroom (double sided of course) so that teachers can read a hardcopy of the program and record which sessions they would like to attend. If necessary, teachers can then photocopy only those pages of the program that apply, without having to print the entire booklet.
